To honor International Women's Day on the 8th of March I am talking to Mila Johansen, a public speaker, writing coach, teacher, and writer. She is the author of five books. She is a writing coach and has a new book coming out—21 Surprising Tips to Promote Your Book. She loves giving people permission to write their Short Book and teaches them how to do it. The Short Book can be used by entrepreneurs to become the expert in their field, to be a calling card or the outline for a longer book. Mila has published a book, From Cowgirl to Congress, available on Amazon and in bookstores, about her famous suffragette grandmother, Jessie Haver Butler, for the 100th anniversary of women getting the right to vote in August 2020. Mila lives on her organic citrus ranch in Northern California with her husband, four dogs and a cat.
Growing up in unimaginable situations as a child does not define you. Take inspiration from these stories of two women who overcame extreme poverty and dangers as children to go on to enjoy successful careers helping people in all walks of life. In the new book, From Cowgirl to Congress, Jessie Butler escaped a Colorado cattle ranch to become the 1st woman lobbyist in D.C. after putting together the Pulitzer School of Journalism. She went on to share the podium several times with Bernard Shaw and Eleanor Roosevelt. And later, in her early 90s, with Gloria Steinem and Marlo Thomas. Her granddaughter, Mila Johansen, who grew up in gangland, tells both their stories. No matter what your background, you can change the next chapter of your story and live your passion.
Mila's 3 top tips:
- Start -Just Start Or Start - Just Start--whatever your dream is.
- Write for 20 Min a Day Or Be inspired by other people’s stories
- Look at what others are writing in books, bios & descriptions or You are Enough!
