Randi-Lee is an author, mental health advocate and host of the Write or Die Show. Her purpose in life is to lift others up by using her struggles to empower others.
Randi-Lee discusses how she has struggled with depression and the coping strategies that have led her to embrace herself. By being open and honest she wants others to know that they are not alone and that we are all in this together.
3 top tips for my audience:
1. If you have mental health that is only one part of who you are. “I have depression, depression doesn’t have me”
2. Be true to yourself, the hardest thing is pretending to be something you are not.
3. Set boundaries!

In Evangela's words:
"I am a trauma recovery coach with 4.5 years sober. Trauma played a huge part in my addiction & I believe it does for many. Emotional sobriety is just as important as sobriety from chemicals. Embracing life as it currently is is what I do & teach my clients, friends, family, & colleagues.
I have given my power away to so many gurus that I didn't know up from down & left from right (hence the name of my coaching practice). Living with developmental trauma, narcissistic abuse, sexual assault, addiction, religious trauma, codependency, anxiety, depression & C-PTSD put me in a unique position to have empathy & compassion for my fellow humans in this world. I can help guide you out of the trenches because I've gotten out of them myself. It has been a long road to regain my sense of self & the power I hold over my own life. This struggle in particular made me want to empower others to make choices that build them up, not tear them down."
3 top tips for my audience:
1. Be who you are
2. You aren’t the only one struggling.
3. There’s nothing “wrong” with you.

239 Charlene Madden Rising Strong: A journey out of darkness and a life renewed
Saturday Mar 12, 2022
Saturday Mar 12, 2022
Charlene Madden has admittedly spent most of her life living in a state of darkness. After experiencing over 9 years of sexualized trauma at the hands of her grandfather, a decade of domestic violence, and 3+ decades of mental illness and suicidal ideology, she was just 2 days away from taking her life when she attended a workshop where everything changed. She was able to begin the healing process by rewriting her thought patterns and found her Purpose by turning her Mess into a Message of Hope, Evolution, and Transformation that she now shares with people all over the world.
Charlene Madden is an author, speaker, Reiki Practitioner and creator of the Ignite Your Life Women’s Empowerment Workshop. Her most important roles though are loving wife, & proud mom of 3 amazing children, (as well as being a fur-baby mom to 3 dogs, a cat and 5 pygmy goats). Charlene is a passionate advocate to ending the stigma for those who suffer from Mental Illness and have experienced Childhood Sexualized Trauma which she has experienced in her own life, and is working on creating a facility that will bring together rescued animals and trauma victims.
3 top tips for my audience:
1. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. Understanding what we can avoid in life and what we can’t
2. Sometimes you have to sit in the dark, but you don’t have to stay there
3. You, and you alone are Responsible for where you are today. Self-responsibility is the first step to recovery and creating the life you desire.

I have had the honour to interview Ben Westhoff about his 4 year research into latest opioid epidemic which at the time of writing has caused in excess of 100000 deaths in the United States.
A deeply human story, Fentanyl, Inc. is the first deep-dive investigation of a hazardous and illicit industry that has created a worldwide epidemic, ravaging communities and overwhelming and confounding government agencies that are challenged to combat it. “A whole new crop of chemicals is radically changing the recreational drug landscape,” writes Ben Westhoff. “These are known as Novel Psychoactive Substances (NPS) and they include replacements for known drugs like heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, and marijuana. They are synthetic, made in a laboratory, and are much more potent than traditional drugs”—and all-too-often tragically lethal.
Drugs like fentanyl, K2, and Spice—and those with arcane acronyms like 25i-NBOMe— were all originally conceived in legitimate laboratories for proper scientific and medicinal purposes. Their formulas were then hijacked and manufactured by rogue chemists, largely in China, who change their molecular structures to stay ahead of the law, making the drugs’ effects impossible to predict. Westhoff has infiltrated this shadowy world. He tracks down the little-known scientists who invented these drugs and inadvertently killed thousands, as well as a mysterious drug baron who turned the law upside down in his home country of New Zealand. Westhoff visits the shady factories in China from which these drugs emanate, providing startling and original reporting on how China’s vast chemical industry operates, and how the Chinese government subsidizes it. Poignantly, he chronicles the lives of addicted users and dealers, families of victims, law enforcement officers, and underground drug awareness organizers in the U.S. and Europe. Together they represent the shocking and riveting full anatomy of a calamity we are just beginning to understand. From its depths, as Westhoff relates, are emerging new strategies that may provide essential long-term solutions to the drug crisis that has affected so many.
Ben Westhoff is a St. Louis-based, award-winning investigative reporter who writes about culture, drugs, and poverty. His book Fentanyl, Inc.: How Rogue Chemists Created the Deadliest Wave of the Opioid Epidemic is the bombshell first book about the fentanyl epidemic. Westhoff has become the go-to expert on the subject of fentanyl and new drugs, sought out for consultation by top government officials, including from the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, and the U.S. State Department. He has appeared on full dedicated episodes of NPR's Fresh Air and the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. His next book Little Brother: Love, Tragedy, and My Search For the Truth (Hachette Books, May 2022) focuses on his investigation into the death of his long-time mentee in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. His previous book Original Gangstas is the definitive work on West Coast hip-hop. He has also written for The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, and the Guardian.

235 Kate Semeniuk - How to stop self-blame for addictive behaviors and start acting!
Saturday Feb 26, 2022
Saturday Feb 26, 2022
Kate Semeniuk is a certified Hypnotherapist and a licenced Rapid Transformational Therapist, working with people’s deepest mental struggles. By accessing their subconscious mind, we are able to look at the beliefs and feelings they form in childhood that affect their life either in a positive or negative way. In 2020, Kate and her family found themselves in isolation and she finally hit her rock bottom, where everything just crashed on her emotionally and physically. Only through personal growth and recovery, she was able to find the method that liberated her from emotional pain and childhood trauma, from addiction since the early age of 12 and a decade long depression. She is now helping others to free their minds from destructive patterns and behaviours.
In Kate's words:
"It is absolutely hard and sometimes can seem impossible to become an observer of our own actions. Addiction first eats us alive (emotionally and physically) and then it starts to eat people around us. How to stop this cycle and use those rare sober minutes wisely, so that we can take first actions to recover. We first need to understand what are the roots of addictions and why it is so hard to make the right decisions for our bodies and minds."
3 top tips for my audience:
1. There is an emotion that we all connect to an addictive substance. Once you find this emotion, you will be able to become an observer of your actions.
2. The rule of 5 seconds (most people only have 5 seconds to make a decision before the unconscious mind takes over). Use these 5 second wisely.
3. No one can blame themselves for things that they are not consciously aware of.

Scott DeLuzio is an Army veteran, having served six years with the Army National Guard, including a deployment to Afghanistan in 2010. Scott’s brother, Steven, was also deployed to Afghanistan in 2010. Unfortunately, Steven was killed in action on August 22, 2010. After returning home, Scott struggled with coping with the stresses of combat, the loss of his younger brother, and adjusting back to civilian life. In the years following Scott’s deployment, he noticed other veterans dealing with their struggles in unhealthy ways. Scott started his podcast, Drive On Podcast, to connect with current and prior service members. He interviews veterans and civilians to discuss personal triumphs, life experiences, and emotional hardships to give hope and strength to the military community.
Scott lives in Surprise, Arizona, with his wife, Vicki DeLuzio, and their three children.

After going from fat to fit, Scott has inspired thousands to do the same. Since the year 2000 Scott has been writing an online fitness newsletter to an international audience and runs a highly successful Fitness Centre. Scott has learned what it really takes to be healthy and fit. His lectures and seminars are full of energy, fun and in high demand across North America.
Scott McDermott went from fat to fit and then turned his entire life upside down leaving a 13-year career in architecture to build a 15,000 square foot fitness centre in a small town in 2002. He has won Rotarian of the year (04), business of the year (04) and citizen of the year (‘05 and ‘15). Scott has since completed 6 Ironmans and been on Team Canada twice for the ITU World Long Course Championships. Most recently falling in love with Ultraman Triathlon (2.5 times longer than Ironman) – he has completed 2 races, and after learning a ton after a near-fatal crash during his 3rd race at the World Championships in 2015. Following a 3 year recovery, he headed back in 2018 for the Comeback race. The documentary on that journey is available on lifestreaming: www.warriorcodefilm.com
He has written a book: ‘If Your Body Were A Car, You Wouldn’t Treat It This Way’, and in addition to running a very successful gym, is a coach and trainer both in his gym and online helping others reclaim their fitness and health. His book and related talks offer massive amounts of tips for the average person, as well as experienced trainers. With fun analogies to create memorable connections to why we need to be fit and healthy and how to do it completely, from food, to exercise, to motivation.
