186 Dianne Simboro - Why it’s easy to confuse new love and early stages of abuse
Thursday Sep 09, 2021
Thursday Sep 09, 2021
Dianne Simboro is a Master Coach, Trainer, Behavioural Profiler and Hypnotherapist. She established Family Violence Mindset Solutions and How to Thrive After Family Violence to teach survivors of family violence strategies to fast-track their recovery process and how to recognise the strategies of perpetrators of violence.
Dianne had an interracial marriage and started out in a small West African country where she didn’t speak the language, didn’t understand the culture and stood out in a crowd. But in just 12 months she created a successful but small Art Business starting from scratch, all while being pregnant with her first daughter.
After an abusive marriage that lasted 27 years and another 10 years spent working with survivors of family violence, Dianne found that once women were able to recognise the strategies used by their abusers, they had the tools needed to eliminate all of the hooks that were once used as a means of control over them and they could avoid getting caught again. But it became very clear to Dianne that new love and the early stages of abuse are almost identical and it was necessary to help women clearly distinguish the difference between the two.
3 top tips for my audience:
1. If a man sounds almost too good to be true, he probably is.
2. Switch on your head and switch off your heart before deciding to commit to a new relationship.
3. Say “no” early and stand back and watch - because abusers don’t like the word “no”.

183 Lisa Kelly - What you think about, you bring about…
Monday Sep 06, 2021
Monday Sep 06, 2021
After having successfully run several businesses including a children’s yoga and art centre, and an online business management consultancy - Lisa Kelly now coaches by offering transformative programs 'In The Art Of Living Your Dreams' through her business - Life Unlimited.
Her own life journey from career to entrepreneur as a single mother - while getting sober, has not always been easy but with a profound shift in mindset and a commitment to becoming the best version of herself, she has been able to find purpose and passion inspiring others to find the courage to make the inner changes necessary for external transformation.
In Lisa’s words:
“Our external world is a reflection of our internal world....
Your whole life is a manifestation of the thoughts that go on in your head…
By understanding how powerful our subconscious mind is, we can release old programming, BELIEVE that anything is possible, harness our infinite potential and leverage the support of the Universe. “
Lisa’s 3 top tips:
1. You don’t have to know HOW the big dream is going to manifest. You worry about the ‘what’ - let the Universe take care of the ‘how’.
2. Act as if you’re already your future self - behave and make decisions from that place of ‘already being there’.
3. If you’re in a place of ‘I don’t even know what I want’, or lacking clarity on a big vision, then start from the place of ‘how do I want to FEEL’? This will start to bring desires into focus.

"Men, we hit our 40s. Life pressures are building up and weighing us down
Trying to balance family needs, career and jobs, financial pressure, time pressure, when to find time to fit in exercise and the inevitable physical decline.
How do we cope?
Most of us don’t!
We turn to alcohol, drugs, sex, distractions like Netflix. These are just coping strategies but not great ones.
Relationships suffer or fail, it’s all too much.
How do we deal with this?
I am going to suggest that yoga may just be the answer
I want to talk to you about that!"
Greg's top 3 tips:
1. Shit happens to us all, expect it. Its how we manage it that matters
2. A support network is essential in difficult times
3. Be open to new ideas and ways to improve your life

Top 3 messages:
1. Nix negative speech from your lexicon
2. Work on your health – physical, mental, and emotional – every day
3. If there’s no path in front of you, grab some cement and start paving

In Isabel's words:
I’m a Cuban/American and I have been a medical doctor since 1991. The only reason I went into the medical field was because I wanted to help people. I wanted to get to the root of the dis-ease, not just throw a Band-Aid on it. My patients weren't getting any better, they were just existing. My goal is to see people healed.
In 2000, my husband, and our two young daughters moved to New Zealand to see what it’s like to experience a different culture of the world. Yes, we had never been there, or even knew where it was. What a crazy, and life- changing decision for our family!
After the first 20 years of being a medical doctor, in the last 10 years I have been studying Functional Medicine, which focuses on the root cause of disease and its treatments.
My husband, Culinary Nutrition Expert, Chef Michael, and I created the brand of Doctoronamission, where we prevent and reverse disease and give hope. Our expertise is in Alzheimers, Dementa, Cognitive Decline, Anxiety, Depression, and Diabetes. We have been doing Tele-Medicine for the past 7 Years with our online business of Doctoronamission.com where we offer online courses and 1x1 coaching.
And so here we are together. Let's start walking together, and I'll share with you what worked for me and can also work for you. I want to give you hope.

180 Ed Squire - #METOO, WHAT NOW? Your recovery begins with your story
Tuesday Aug 24, 2021
Tuesday Aug 24, 2021
For over 20 years, Ed was a senior business consultant for Fortune 500 and global companies throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Ed is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, and in 2018, he started a nonprofit called 'MeToo, WhatNow.’ He is driven to help survivors of any kind of childhood abuse and trauma rebuild their lives.
In 2016, he filed a public lawsuit against one of his abusers. He's currently producing a documentary about the experience.
His central platform is YouTube, where he creates videos to connect with other survivors and build community.
In Ed's words:
"The most powerful step in a survivor's journey is connecting with other survivors and sharing their stories.
When this happens, it makes a significant difference in many areas of their lives, including their ability to help other survivors. We need a paradigm shift in how we are taught to treat ourselves and others as we go through this process.
Most survivors I've spoken with over the years tell me how much it meant to them. In some cases, it even saved their lives by talking to another survivor who understands. The big question is, "When is the right time?"
3 top tips for my audience:
1. Learn how to ‘Locate yourself.’ I.e. self-actualization and awareness.
2. “You’re not alone” sounds nice, but find a community where you’re safe, accepted, and you can thrive.
3. In life, you get to be whatever you want to be. Don’t let your past define you. Look at yourself in the mirror for who you used to be and learn how to define who you want to become.

179 Theresa Gonzalez - A Mother's Journey through Grief and Loss
Saturday Aug 21, 2021
Saturday Aug 21, 2021
Theresa is the author of Silent Moms: Healing Our Wounded Souls - a mother's journey through grief and loss. Her journey reveals to us the pain and burden of secrets and unresolved grief. Pregnant at 18, she left her family and small town to live amongst strangers in a maternity home. Months later, she gave birth, relinquished her son, and departed alone, hoping to begin a new life. Instead, she found herself derailed by emotions she could not face and by losses that continued to accumulate. The lack of tools and knowledge needed to address her grief left her ill prepared which led to more destructive behaviours and emotions that lasted for years. This has been the driving force behind Theresa's book - wanting to help others struggling with their adoption experience, whether it was 3 years ago or 30. Her book is a guide for anyone struggling with a loss—someone who feels stuck but desires a better path for their lives. You will find: the courage to acknowledge and accept your situation; a willingness to define, address, and truly feel all of your emotions; the work needed for forgiveness; the strength to discover who you really are (without the baggage); and the determination to see the process through to find peace.
3 top tips for my audience:
1. Most important is self-care as you go through your healing journey. It will be an emotional roller coaster, knowing what to do on the tough days.
2. Tools to support you through your journey (mementos, journaling, sharing, connecting)
3. Grief is not linear; it is a process. Grief is not something you get over. It’s learning to address at different stages in our lives, as it may come up time and again.
