In Miranda's words:
I counsel, mentor, and sponsor women who are dealing with the effects of alcoholism and addiction in a loved one. As an adult child of alcoholics who was agnostic, I had to make a decision in my marriage to seek recovery myself when my husband fell victim to the disease. I have been in Alanon for 14 years and now and have also been trained as a biblical counselor and a Christian 12 step study program to counsel and mentor others.
The pain and despair from living with an alcoholic or addict is too much for most of us. Without spiritual help, we can become mentally, physically, and emotionally unwell. The good news is there are solutions rooted in recovery that can help us regain hope and peace. We can have contentment and happiness whether the addict chooses to get help, but we must be willing to believe that support is beyond human. It comes from the divine, God. Are you willing to believe a power greater than yourself can restore you to a harmonious life? Let’s talk more because together, we can make it!
Miranda Jo Davis is an expert in the yoga world with over twenty years’ experience. She owns a Christian yoga and Pilates studio and infuses her teaching with Scripture. As a biblical counselor, Miranda uses God’s Word to encourage heart change. She is a published Christian writer, and her teaching on mind and body wellness has been featured on TV, on the radio, and in print.
Miranda's top 3 tips:
1. Addicts are addicted to alcohol or drugs and their loved ones become addicted to them (the alcoholic).
2. God is the hope for the family disease of alcoholism and he can restore the chaos, uncertainty, and despair of our lives to one of peace, calm, and hope!
3. There are specific steps we need to take to separate us from our loved ones and the disease. Prayer, meditation, counsel, and changing our thinking are the key elements to breaking free from the grips of the disease.
I teach Christian yoga, pilates, and meditation (an active way to practice step 11 (“Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God”) by teaching virtual classes. I also do one on one coaching sessions for loved one of addicts/alcoholics and we work the 12 steps of a Gospel Centered Recovery).

Episode 57 - Amy Guerrero - Why healthy sober relationships will change the world
Thursday Aug 20, 2020
Thursday Aug 20, 2020
In Amy's words:
This is a story of why I coped the way I did until now. How choosing to heal my trauma led me to a institutions, suicide and then a choice to live like I have never lived before. How choosing to find my birth mom and heal years of ancestral abuse led me to deepening my practices and choosing to support sober people to heal from the root cause to thrive in recovery.
Today, I support sober people to heal their past traumas to cultivate more self-love and have healthy relationships with everything in their lives.
I was confident no single approach to healing and living a conscious sober life would work for me so why would it work for anyone else? I got busy educating myself, training and working with people in somatic experiencing, attachment theory and other trauma-informed modalities and relating it to living a conscious sober lifestyle.
What I discover is missing for my clients, who include all adults ready to create healthier relationships is when we unravel the root causes of the addictive escape such as grief, trauma and attachment adaptations it is possible to connect with more safety and reveal their true potential purpose and thrive in all sober relationships.
Outside of running my coaching business, Thrive in Recovery, you can find me practicing what I teach; cooking healthy, delicious food, practicing yoga, playing outdoors and strengthening my connection to myself to serve others.
Amy's top 3 tips:
1. A willingness to stay curious will take you to great places.
2. Learning what safety feels like in your body is freedom.
3. A commitment to always be learning will bring you amazing pleasure.
Amy is starting her Sober Relationship School. Check it out!
