Like many people, spiritual author and speaker Donald Lee has had an on-again/off-again relationship with alcohol during his life. Sometimes he has controlled alcohol, sometimes it has controlled him. In this wide-ranging interview, Donald talks about his recurrent struggles with alcohol, how it fit into his life-long spiritual quest, and what has helped him to get back in control. Millions of people who are, like Donald “not quite addicted, but not quite in control either” will find his journey and his struggles meaningful.
Donald Lee is a spiritual author and inspirational speaker but also a musician, teacher, and band director. Drawing on his varied professional experience and life-long spiritual quest, Donald uses music as a metaphor for spiritual growth. With his writing and speaking, Donald helps people to see life “through spiritual eyes” to make their experience of life deeper, richer, and more meaningful. His first book was published in 2019: The Band Director’s Lessons About Life: Volume 1 – Parables on Life’s Performance Cycle. It is a book of modern-day parables, with stories inspired by his teaching experience. Here is an excerpt:
“One revelation on our spiritual journey is that what you seek is already right here with you—before you even start your journey. A second is that the world does not change by your journey. You change—and thus you see the world differently. Then you are able to see that what you seek is right before you. It always was. You always had it. Because what you seek is within you, not without you. So the spiritual journey is always a journey inward. The outward journey is just to show you yourself as reflected in the faces and places you visit.”

I have the pleasure of talking to Vikki Louise, based in England. Her main topic of interest - Anxiety.
There is a lot of information out there. It is confusing and overwhelming and often leaves us more anxious than when we started. On today’s episode Vikki will share simple steps to understanding and managing anxiety.
Vikki helps ambitious overachievers manage their anxiety & procrastination. She has a no BS approach blending neuroscience, evolutionary biology, life coaching tools and tough love that teach people to understand their brain, rewire their thinking - and feel empowered to get things done. Vikki graduated from the London School of Economics and hosts the F*CK Anxiety & Get Sh*t Done podcast.

Episode 8 - Victoria English Martin - Poisoning myself after battling cancer
Friday Jun 26, 2020
Friday Jun 26, 2020
In this episode I meet Victoria English Martin. a life-coach whose journey is both humbling and inspiring. In her own words:
"I used alcohol to numb physical and emotional pain for many years, and even went back to drinking briefly after fighting for my life during aggressive breast cancer treatment. It was then, when I was poisoning myself, after already facing death, that I realized that the root of WHY we numb has to be addressed before we can heal in a healthy way and live not just an alcohol-free life, but a happy life without feeling deprived, but empowered instead.
I have a degree in Dietetics, am an Integrative Nutritionist and a coach-in-training with This Naked Mind Institute, led by best selling author, Annie Grace. We approach recovery from alcohol or any habit which is no longer serving us with science-proven methodology. It is my intention to break down the Mommy wine culture, educate women about breast cancer and help them find their own voice, free from the pervasive messages in society that we need a substance to endure life.
My podcast is “After the Crisis”, available on all podcast platforms.
My website is victoriaenglishmartin.com
I offer 1:1 coaching as well as group coaching."
It was an honor to talk to Victoria. Maybe you should too!

Episode 7 - Ramie Haas - How to ask the right questions in sobriety
Friday Jun 26, 2020
Friday Jun 26, 2020
Ramie has asked me to relay her message to you:
"You can change and live a life that is purposeful, useful and filled with Gratitude.
It’s not Magical because you quit your Drinking, but it can be!!!
Picture yourself all clean and SO done with drinking, no more lies to yourself, your family and friends. You have come clean and so much goes with that decision of not picking up the drink again. No, please don’t misunderstand me STOP is a great place and the only place to start but to yield a great life one has work to do. We have all had our reasons to drink, a good day, a bad day, the weekend, it’s after 5pm somewhere. Right? One soon realizes the awareness of the very reason we drank, the stress, pain, frustration and not knowing how to end the misery. This is where I come in, Hi! I am Ramie Haas and I AM a living, loving life sober person. "
As an alcoholic in recovery Ramie is NOW living life aware of all the good there is in the world. As she puts it:
"I get to teach yoga, meditation, and use my life coaching skills to help others change their old beliefs, habits and the way they feel. I use trance to hypnotize others and access their Higher Self to help, aide, guide, along the way with permission. We all do better when we ask for help and asking our Higher Power/Selves is a healthy and profound way."
What does Ramie offer you as the viewers?
"I can work online with anyone and heal the root cause of the disease but only if the person is totally willing to be honest and want change. I am the Guide. You must do the work!"
My comment - And there it is again. No magic cure. No quick fix. But the guarantee that you can change your life dramatically if you put your mind to it!

What happens when an investigative journalist investigates the skeletons in his family's cupboard?
Stuart Watson was put up for adoption by his birth mother the moment he was born after his biological father abandoned them. After four months in foster care, he was placed with adopting parents. Because it was a closed adoption, Stuart never knew that alcoholism ran in his family and that he had a full-blood brother and sister and all three siblings became alcoholics, despite being raised in different homes.
Once Stuart got sober at mid life, he used his skills as an investigative journalist to track his origins, and was stunned at the story of his father and mother, who met in one of the largest mental hospitals in the world and went on to marry after his adoption.
Stuart Watson is an American journalist who created the podcast ManListening - one man’s effort to better listen to women. Along the same lines he is set to publish his first book this fall: WHAT SHE SAID & WHAT I HEARD.Check him out and look for ManListening on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Stuart spent more than three decades as an investigative reporter across the southeastern U.S. His work on local television in places like music capital Nashville won major national awards and brought about reforms. He was awarded a Nieman Fellowship in Journalism at Harvard University. He and his wife Lorraine have four grown children. They live in Charlotte, North Carolina.
