470 Michelle Reittinger: Healing and Recovery from Bipolar Disorder
Friday Aug 16, 2024
Friday Aug 16, 2024
Having been diagnosed with bipolar in 1998, Michelle Reittinger spent the next 12 years on a roller coaster of manic and depressive episodes with therapists, doctors, psychotropic meds, hospitalizations, and suicide attempts. She was at her wit's end and felt humiliated, hopeless and lost. In particular, she was devastated by the toll it took on her family-her husband and small children.
Finally, she and her psychiatrist found a solution that became a turning point in her story. She began the process of developing an integrated method for understanding this devastating disorder and successfully treating it.
Michelle advocates for a radical shift in the treatment of bipolar to facilitate healing and recovery. She is all about accepting responsibility for yourself and overcoming the victimhood mentality that so often accompanies bipolar disorder. She teaches an integrated, research-based treatment model that addresses the underlying causes of bipolar symptoms and allows people to heal.
3 Top Tips
Our current treatment model for treating bipolar (and mental illness in general) is a disease-centered model and is keeping people sick.
Bipolar disorder does not need to be a life-sentence. It is possible to heal if you identify the cause of your symptoms and apply a research-based, integrated treatment plan.
You can choose to manage and cope with your bipolar symptoms, or you can choose to recover and heal. The choice is yours; you don't have to be a victim for the rest of your life.

467 Gabrielle Bovard: How To Cope Without Access To Mental Healthcare
Tuesday Aug 06, 2024
Tuesday Aug 06, 2024
Gabrielle Bovard is a storyteller, advocate for authenticity, and the author of the upcoming memoir, "Waiting Room." She’s also the founder of the nationally recognized movement, Random Note Project, which she started when she was just 14 years old.
After a major diagnosis and an unexpected breakup, Gabrielle needed mental health care. Instead of being met with compassion and urgency, she was told that the next available mental health professional was eight hours away and their next opening was in five months. She couldn’t wait that long, so she packed up her car and traveled around the United States asking strangers one question: “How do you cope without access to care?”
With her unique blend of vulnerability and wisdom, Gabrielle empowers audiences to embrace authenticity, foster meaningful connections, and begin to heal.

In Tracey’s words:
I've been on a healing journey for 25 years and it was just last year that the final puzzle piece fell into place. As someone who has been in and out of therapy for over 2 decades, I was shocked by the realization that my whole life, my whole adult self and all my relationships, had been impacted by the reality of my childhood. Most of us believe that we cannot have experienced trauma if our childhood doesn't tick traditional boxes: sexual or physical abuse, poverty, incarcerated parent. But I can tell you, for sure, that waking up to the toll my conditioning took on me and thereby the people I love most has changed everything.
And, my daughter was diagnosed with an eating disorder and depression when she was thirteen. She's 25 now and fully supports me in talking about our experiences. Her mental health diagnoses, along with my own inheritance, is the subject of my forthcoming memoir: Bloodlines: A Memoir of Harm and Healing. I'm passionate about dispelling the myths around mental illness, mental health, and healing. Accepting the fact that I could not control the trajectory of my daughter's illness was extremely painful, but it was necessary for me to wake up to the need for me to do my own work. The means to the end of supporting and loving her the healthiest ways I could.
See more about my book here: https://traceyyokascreates.com/bloodlines-a-memoir/
This book shows you how I healed inherited trauma. In turn, I was empowered and transformed my relationships most beautifully.

* What happened to us was not our fault, but breaking the chain of transmission is our responsibility. Compassion grows through awareness.
* We—those living with inherited trauma—are not broken. By transforming our challenges into choices, we reclaim our agency. We foster resilience, empowerment, and unity—and show our children how to do the same.

Hosein Kouros-Mehr, MD, PhD is an author and physician-scientist who has spent over two decades in cancer research and drug development.
Thanks to his background, Hosein recognized the extraordinary ramifications of a recent scientific discovery: the default mode network (DMN), which encodes the human ego and influences our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Recognizing the profound impact of this breakthrough on self-understanding (both from clinical and personal experience), he wrote Break Through: Master Your Default Mode and Thrive to help readers master the DMN and live happier, more fulfilling lives.
An avid reader and student of science, philosophy, and religion, Hosein draws on a depth of understanding from medical science, neuroscience, Buddhism, Judeo-Christian teachings, and ancient philosophy. Break Through connects the medical and spiritual realms to help readers unlock health and well-being and awaken their higher self, opening the doors to new possibilities and experiences.
Hosein is also the author of two novels, Extinction 6 and Project Bodi: Awaken the Power of Insight, that explore how mindfulness cultivates insights and scientific innovation. He lives in Los Angeles, California, with his wife and children.
3 Top Tips
For many people, addiction is driven by a rewired brain where there is little conscious control over decisions.
The first step in the healing process is INTENTION--the decision to want a happier, healthier life.
The other steps in the process--surrender, insight, and the journey--are at the heart of both religious and non-religious based healing practices. These steps are also backed by emerging scientific studies into the nature of the mind.

In the words of Rachelle Davis:
From the earliest days of my life, I've been drawn to the healing power of nature. The rustling leaves, the scent of blooming flowers, and the gentle touch of sunlight—all whispered secrets of well-being. Little did I know that this fascination would lead me on a transformative path, shaping not only my own destiny but also the lives of countless others.
In 2012, I embarked on an overseas adventure as a Government contractor. My mission was clear: contribute to a cause greater than myself. Amidst the bustling streets and unfamiliar landscapes, I discovered a deeper purpose—an unyielding desire to promote holistic health. It was during those long nights, working tirelessly, that I sensed the first whispers of fatigue creeping in.
Back Stateside in 2013, I decided to formalize my passion. I pursued certification as a **Holistic Health Coach**. Armed with knowledge about nutrition, mindfulness, and the interconnectedness of mind and body, I felt empowered. Little did I know that this certification would become the cornerstone of my life's work.
The next six months were a tempest of stress. My supervisor's harsh words echoed in my mind, and the relentless night shifts drained my energy. Sleep became elusive, and my body rebelled. It was then that I faced a life-altering revelation: **Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)** had taken hold of me.
I made a solemn promise—to myself and to others who felt invisible and unheard. Armed with determination, I embarked on a quest for healing. My regimen became my laboratory, and I experimented relentlessly. I researched, consulted experts, and listened to my body's whispers. Slowly, I pieced together the puzzle.
Out of this struggle emerged **The 4 Core Blueprint**. It's not just a program; it's a lifeline. Let me share its essence:
**Autonomic Balance**: We delve into the delicate dance of the autonomic nervous system. Restoring harmony becomes our mission.
**Exercise Resilience**: Tailored exercise strategies—gentle yet powerful—guide you toward vitality. Your heart and lungs respond, and fatigue retreats.
**Brain Empowerment**: The brain, our conductor, holds the key. We unlock the temporoparietal junction—the epicenter of fatigue decisions. Clarity dawns.
**Immune Harmony**: B cells, guardians of immunity, find their rhythm. Our approach adapts to each unique soul.
Rachelle Davis' interview proves that you can conquer chronic fatigue syndrome and not just reclaim your life but live it to the fullest.
The 4 Core Blueprint isn't just a course; it's a community. We gather, share stories, and lift each other. We see the unseen, hear the unheard, and ignite hope. Together, we reclaim vitality.
